Theta has been revolutionizing the world of private equity, corporate finance, and strategic management through Customer-Based Corporate Valuation (CBCV), an emerging, award-winning methodology for measuring and managing corporate valuation through quantitative models for customer behavior. We are growing quickly and developing new products that will greatly accelerate our efforts to democratize CBCV, making it much more accessible and impactful for an even broader set of companies.

​We are looking for a Software Engineer with cloud infrastructure and platform engineering experience to bring our product and research capabilities to the next level. This is a critical, foundational role on our Data Science & Engineering team – charged with the broad mandate of bringing Theta’s proprietary research methodologies to life at scale.

Software Engineers work closely with other members of the Data Science & Engineering team, including founders and Professors Peter Fader and Daniel McCarthy. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to and shape the design of an integrated, analytical software platform. Responsibilities will shift quickly between projects and span a wide range. We’re looking for a nimble technologist and quick learner with the right combination of experience and willingness to learn.


  • Devise software solutions for operationalizing data engineering and data science processes at scale
  • Develop high-performance research platforms for analyzing large datasets
  • Build software products for conveying the results of sophisticated analyses in an intuitive manner
  • Manage and deploy cloud infrastructure to power all the above

Skills we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields
  • Exceptional architecture, design, and programming skills
  • Expertise in Python and/or C++ development; experience in Django web development
  • Expertise in writing automated tests, including defining test strategy, test planning, test case design, and execution
  • Experience with modern DevOps principles and technologies (e.g. CI/CD)
  • Experience with IaaS and PaaS technologies

Preferred qualifications:

  • Terraform or other IaaC experience
  • Front-end development experience (e.g. JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3)
  • Analytical/scripting experience (e.g. R)
  • Experience with container and orchestration technologies
